Norwegian Art Pop musician and producer Therese Aune releases her touching approach to Einar Stray Orchestra's "Beast" to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut album "Chiaroscuro".

When deciding on making a cover version of one of Einar’s songs, Beast was the first song that came to mind. Somehow it’s the song that reminds me the most of Einar and the time in our lives when we played a lot of concerts together and even shared band members. I remember always being impressed by his ability to create long stretches of music – songs with several worlds in them that slowly unfurled, yet still felt like one piece of music. Beast doesn’t have the standard pop form, but still manages to be very catchy! 
 
When making cover versions, I usually try to make something that is quite different from the original songs. The same goes for Beast. Rather than trying to copy the epicness of the original, I wanted to make a more introverted and floating version of it, and after trying and failing with several other attempts, this version came to me rather effortlessly. I have never quite understood what the lyrics are about, but I like the idea of us all having a beast within – containing our shame and vile thoughts, and sometimes we need to let it out.
